Doo So Pochonoboi Din

When I started this blog I dedicated it to our loving fish, Sebatenga Asa. His name means “Seventh Fish” in Ethiopian. He was, obviously, the seventh fish that Phileena and I tried rearing.

Sadly, while traveling in India last month Sebatenga Asa passed away. He died at our home in Omaha while we were in Calcutta. Thankfully he didn’t die alone, but was cared for from this life into the next by Rachelle.

When we got home I promptly went to the pet store and adopted our eighth fish.

In honor of Sebatenga Asa’s death, our new fish’s name is Doo So Pochonoboi Din (pronounced “doo show pauchaa nob boi din” or “dou-show panchano nobui din”) which means “295 Days” in Bengali.

The name is sort of a goal, hopefully this one will live at least 295 days, the period that we cared for Sebatenga Asa.
